Qiological Podcast Interview with Megan, the HHP's founder

Megan Gale

November/December 2021

Michael Max, a well-known podcaster in the acupuncture field, interviewed our founder, Megan Kingsley Gale, on his podcast, Qiological.

In this podcast episode 231, Michael asks Megan about her path into hospital-based practice and her subsequent creation of the Hospital Handbook Project® (HHP) for Acupuncturists and their Hospital Sponsors (Admin). https://www.qiological.com/hospital-handbook-project/

The podcast episode was published on Qiological on December 21st, 2021.

Megan talks about how connecting with experienced field guides (like through our community discussion platform) is essential to navigating the “wilderness” of healthcare system-based practice in the U.S. As Michael says on the episode notes page, “maneuvering through large organizations like hospitals, the military, or the government can be like walking into uncharted territory. It requires an understanding of their lingo, procedures and methods of working together.”

Quote from the episode landing page on Qiological:
In this conversation with Megan Kingsley Gale, we discuss her efforts in creating the Hospital-Practice Handbook Project as an open sourced resource for licensed acupuncturists working in hospitals and institutional healthcare systems. At its core, this is a resource for change-makers in the integrative health field to share their ideas and wisdom…

Megan has a vision of helping us explore new frontiers as acupuncturists in the modern American healthcare system. A system of integrative medicine where acupuncturists are seen as professionals rather than technicians and where cooperation is embraced and the lines between the East and West are blurred for the benefit of our patients.

What advice would you give others?

Michael asked Megan what advice she would give to others. She recommends learning about and developing your compass for yourself, your family (if you are a parent or primary caregiver), and your work. More info about this at this 8-minute video on our YouTube channel here.
