As of spring 2023, The Hospital Handbook Project for Acupuncturists and Their Hospital Sponsors is part of the new 501(c)3 nonprofit, Society of Hospital and Healthcare System-Based Acupuncturists.

What this is/Goals for the year 2022+
This HHP workgroup is created to focus on “Hospital & Healthcare System-based LAc Employment Practices” for 2022-2023.
However, we need to meet our funding goals for the HHP’s basic operating costs as a first step toward getting this workgroup going. Then, we will do fundraising to help get this workgroup funded.

When we are funded, the following are topics we want to cover in this workgroup
Hiring & credentialing and LAc, minimum standards
Working in hospital and healthcare system-based practice, recommended KSAs from the community for
General practice
Specialty practice areas—we have a long list in our workgroup resources
Position descriptions, reviewing samplings from the community and those published online through job announcements
Range of salary & benefits
Discussions on what best practices looks like
Support the HHP’s Data Survey Project. Working with the research advisor team, identifying the budget for the Data Survey Project, supporting funding for it, etc.
Discuss findings from the HHP Data Survey Project. This will be a multi-year process. Right now (spring 2022), we need funding for all aspects of the HHP so we can run this workgroup as well as the Data Survey Project. You can help us toward that path by donating today. Thank you.
How do we run the workgroup
Asynchronous discussion on the closed community platform
Monthly, live virtual sessions, closed to workgroup, on zoom
Follow up work in the closed discussion group in our community platform
Method: Ideally, we run the group as a scheduled monthly live virtual session on Zoom. Then, follow up with materials and discussion is in the closed designated workgroup on our community discussion platform

Join the Tier 2 discussion platform
Attend an “Orientation Training” session for the Employment Practices workgroup. Orientation sessions are now held separately from scheduled workgroup meetings.
Asynchronous workgroup discussion is already available to Tier 2 community discussion members. However, we need to meet funding goals to consistently host live virtual sessions.
First public presentation announced (as of mid-May 2022) for Saturday, June 25th, 2022, “How to Hire & Credential an LAc into Your Healthcare System.” See the event page for details on the topic, how to attend, and more.
